Founder & Director
About Melissa
Melissa Yu is a dynamic force in the worlds of entrepreneurship, personal branding, and purpose-driven leadership. As the Director of MCO Events and the founder of Ego Expo – Australia’s first streetwear and urban culture expo—Melissa has redefined what it means to create meaningful platforms that empower, connect, and inspire.
A personal branding expert and motivational speaker, Melissa helps individuals and businesses craft powerful narratives that leave lasting impact. Her journey is one of resilience, creativity, and connection. After losing her long-term partner to suicide, Melissa transformed her grief into a mission to break stigmas, becoming a national voice for mental health awareness and suicide prevention. With a degree in Psychology and a background in crisis counselling, Melissa brings both lived experience and professional insight to every stage she steps onto.
Known for her magnetism, authenticity, and empathy, Melissa captivates audiences – whether she’s speaking at grassroots community events or sharing global stages alongside thought leaders like Mark Wahlberg. She has featured at key events for organizations like Beyond Blue, R U OK Day, and Lifeline, and her work has been recognized with nominations for Young Australian of the Year and Channel 7’s Young Achiever Awards for Social Impact.
Beyond the stage, Melissa is a business mentor and host of The Authentic Me podcast, where she interviews Australia’s most inspiring creatives, entrepreneurs, and change-makers on their journeys of mindset, purpose, and personal evolution.
Melissa’s mission is simple but profound: to leave people in a better place than where she found them. Whether through coaching, content, or community, she leads by example, proving that your story is your superpower, and that branding is more than a business strategy – it’s a legacy.
